Young Blackfoot (in progress)

This project explores the daily lives of Blackfeet Indian youth in northern Montana: their adolescent striving for individuality, as well as their symbolic participation in old tribal ways. While some tribal elders see this return to the past as a solution to the many social ills on the reservation, the youth are still struggling to establish their identities within a modern context. I hope to express the tension between these two co-existing worlds in a way that transcends popular media stereotypes.
